The major point of both anime is to watch how normal people respond to a kid who has an adults' wisdom and have extraordinary smartness and magical capabilities. Both know about the god who reincarnated them into the magical world. Both are very strong in magical powers.ģ.
Both MCs have the wisdom of an adult although their current body is still a kid. The point is that they bear a great many similarities with each other. Anyway, my intent is not to bore or spoil you.

Both main characters are virtual 1-woman armies unto themselves, their combat standing in their respective series is almost that high. Magic exists in both worlds although in Shuumatsu no Izetta it is only used by witches which are nigh extinct while in Youjo Senki magic affinity is common although the degree of talent can vary widely. However that aside they are extremely similar, taking place in similar time settings in a European setting. This makes being in the mind of the major far more interesting and less common for a main character. The major is psychopathic and brilliant in combat while Izetta rather detests needing to fight but does so for a greater cause. For this reason I feel that Youjo Senki is the superior series. Major Degurechaff on the other hand fights for the domineering Empire and does so for selfish motives only. Izetta is driven by loyalty to her Princess and fights for the underdog Kingdom of Elystadt. The biggest difference between Youjo Senki and Shuumatsu no Izetta is the motive and allegiance of the main character. Youjo Senki develops only Tanya and only in the present, we get attached to other characters and see their different emotions but a military strictness is placed on their behavior, aside from a few they don't change all that much, half the cast is already mature and developed. Alderamin touches on more characters, often uses main cast's past as interludes and tries to brief us on why they became who they are Characters (they usually don't change much) Alderamin has 2 main characters: Ikta and Yatori Youjo Senki bets on the badass fun of a vanguard strike force, quality combat scenes, satisfying strategy debates with generals using Tanya's knowledge of 20th century history and doctrine and also Tanya's unique character Alderamin concentrates on tactics with great, easy to follow explanations every problem has to be countered with a creative solution and it's really fun to watch all plans and numbers unfold on the screen Tanya uses a magic powered computer/jewel and is basically a commander of self-flying mages (think Strike Witches) Ikta uses a magic powered bolt action rifle to great effect Both are also fighters (more so in Youjo Senki) She hates having to do that, even though she's excellent.
Tanya loves order and rules, wants a peaceful existence in the capital but is "too good to let be" and gets thrown into the frontmost fights. Ikta takes the shortest and easiest way possible to victory, works hard to end duties as quickly as possible and have a nap. Tanya was a ruthless salaryman and now is a sociopathic, mad, ruthless yet sometimes cute gifted fighter/air commander, has historical hindsight from her original future and is able to guess national objectives in advance in Alderamin Ikta is above all a gifted young strategist and somewhat clever/cunning like JoJo's Joseph, Main character is a talented officer (more so in Alderamin) The worlds are somewhat similar, in short: Alderamin is a fictional 19th century beginnings of rifled guns world, Youjo Senki is WW1 europe with a twist.
